Helen Rollason MBE was a BBC sports journalist who died of cancer in 1999. She was a patient of oncologist Professor Neville Davidson and shared his vision that people should be treated as a whole, not just their illness. She lent her name and image to his charity and now her legacy lives on through the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity. The charity does not receive any government or lottery funding, and relies solely on donation from the public.
The Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity aims to provide a network of centres and services that will support and care for individuals touched by cancer and improve their quality of life. It does this through research, counselling, complementary care and education, working with cancer patients, their families and friends.
AN EXCEPTIONAL WALK ALONG THE ESSEX/SUFFOLK BORDER
The first North Essex Circular Walk took place place in 1994, starting from Wakes Colne the route was 22 miles along The Essex Way, finishing at Lawford where all the walkers had a meal in the village hall before being taken back by G. W. Osborne & Sons coaches of Tollesbury,
Osbornes Coaches supplied the coaches free. The walk was a one off event, but as you can see fifteen years later we are still going strong, this is due to the people taking part requesting a second walk. during the following years we introduced a 16 mile and seven mile route. So going from strength to strength we will be holding our seventeenth annual walk on Sunday 29th May, 2011 For the 2009 walk we have researched a fantastic route along the Essex/Suffolk border. Although its not until May 2011 you can register your name now to receive an application form in January, 2011.
Tell all your friends and relations and make sixteenth annual walk a memorable event.
All entrants in this years walk will automatically receive an application form in January 2011
